As COVID-19 cases soar in India, the U.S. Centres for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a ‘Level 4 (Very High)’ warning for potential travellers to India asking them to “avoid all travel” to the country even if they are fully vaccinated. The warning came on the same day that the U.K. had put India on a travel “red list” requiring stricter quarantine procedures upon entry into the U.K.
“Because of the current situation in India even fully vaccinated travellers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants and should avoid all travel to India,” says the advisory, posted on Monday on the CDC website.
“If you must travel to India, get fully vaccinated before travel. All travellers should wear a mask, stay 6 feet from others, avoid crowds, and wash their hands,” it says.
