Another Tamil group joins Tamil People’s Council

December 28, 2015 11:41 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 04:17 pm IST - COLOMBO:

The People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) has joined the Tamil People’s Council (TPC) on the condition that nothing will be done to disturb the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) or the leadership of R. Sampanthan, according to its leader, D. Sithadthan.

Reiterating the TPC’s position that the Council was not meant to provide an alternative to the TNA, Mr. Sithadthan said C.V. Wigneswaran had even expressed the view at Sunday’s meeting that there would be coordination and consultation with Mr. Sampanthan. Meanwhile, another constituent of the TNA — Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO) — has called for an urgent meeting of the Alliance’s coordination committee.
