Afghan activist Fawzia Koofi in conversation with Diplomatic Affairs Editor Suhasini Haidar

April 07, 2019 03:07 pm | Updated 03:14 pm IST

As the US administration makes claims of progress in talks with the Taliban, one Afghan politician, Fawzia Koofi is making her voice of caution heard, calling for the world to ensure Afghans, particularly women do not lose the freedoms they have struggled to secure since 2001. Ms. Koofi has been a member of parliament from 2005 to 2018, and the author of the book The Favoured Daughter.

Excerpts from her conversation with The Hindu's Diplomatic Affairs Editor Suhasini Haidar.
