An Afghan policewoman on Monday shot dead a civilian contractor for NATO-led troops in Kabul and was arrested, officials said.

The shooting took place inside a police compound, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said.

“We are investigating the incident at the moment,” Hagen Messer, an ISAF spokesman said.

Local media reported that the victim was a US military adviser for Afghan police and the shooting took place inside Kabul police headquarters, but NATO and Afghan officials had not yet confirmed the victim’s nationality.

An official at the Afghan Interior Ministry also confirmed the attack on a foreign national in Kabul.
