Romanian police say two tax inspectors have been hospitalized after the owner of a shop threw car battery acid at them.

Police say a team of three inspectors on Wednesday visited a car parts shop that had debts to the state. They were about to close down the business, when the owner threw the acid at them.

Police spokeswoman from the southern city of Targoviste says two of the inspectors sustained burns to their faces. Mihaela Savu says the injuries are not severe.
