A relative says an American who was detained for a week by Syrian authorities has been released.
Mohammed Radwan, 32, was released on Friday and will fly to Cairo. His cousin, Tarek Shalaby, confirmed the release.
Mr. Radwan and another American were picked up during an unprecedented wave of protests in Syria.
Syria’s state—run news agency alleged that Mr. Radwan had “confessed” to selling photos and videos of demonstrations to a Colombian woman.
Mr. Radwan is from Austin, Texas. He holds dual citizenship from the U.S. and Egypt.
The other American was still being held. Pathik “Tik” Root, a Middlebury College student from Ripton, Vermont was detained while he shot photographs at a demonstration on March 18.
