The youngest climber of the tallest mountain in the world, 13-year-old Jordan Romero, says he got the best view of the world from the tallest point of the earth, the peak of Mount Everest.
“It was a feeling like no other,” he told journalists at the Nepal-Tibet border in Tatopani. “I got the best view of the world.” Clad in blue jeans and t-shirt and wearing a yellow wristband, Romero said it was a difficult climb.
Romero made it to the top of the world on May 22 from the Chinese side. Nepal does not permit people under the age of 16 to climb Mount Everest.
Sharing his experience with journalists, who waited for more than seven hours to get his sound byte, Romero said: “It was very difficult, harder than I thought.” The teenager has climbed six tallest peaks of seven continents. However, when asked if his age mattered in the Everest climb, he said “no.”
Romero was accompanied by his father Paul Romero, who was very happy to see his son, now a world-record holder. “This young man was on the top of the world.” Mr. Paul, who also made it to the top with his son, said: “Age has nothing to do with anything.”
