Five terrorists were killed — four in a drone attack and the fifth in a bomb blast — across the two Waziristans on Friday. The blast in Wana, South Waziristan, killed three others. In a related development, a reconnaissance drone — apparently belonging to the Pakistan Army — crashed in South Waziristan.
In the Wana blast, police suspect the target of the attack was Maulvi Abbas who had been expelled from the area by Taliban commander Mullah Nazir along with Uzbek terrorists in 2007. According to Dawn.com , he had joined the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan for a while and had returned to Wana after reconciling with Nazir.
Later in the afternoon, drones operated by the Central Intelligence Agency pounded a house in Mir Ali in North Waziristan; killing four terrorists. According to reports coming from the tribal area where journalists have no access, the affiliation of the terrorists had not been established.
