The Tamil Nadu Election Commission has roped in actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan to campaign against cash for votes. In a video released by the Commission, Kamal has urged people not to sell their future and self-respect for a pittance.
“Don’t vote by comparing which leader is paying more for voting. Think about in whose hands you are resting your future and vote for the deserving leader. Don’t sell your future and self-respect for a pittance,” Kamal said in the video. “Let’s vote with conscience and promise that under no circumstance would we sell our votes,” he added.
Voting, he said, is one of the important duties of every citizen. “Of the different duties we are obliged to perform for our country, voting is very important.”
