The body of a youth who drowned in the sea at Thandarayankuppam on Sunday was washed ashore off the Kalapet coast on Monday afternoon.
Police said the victim, Jisbin Devasia (21) of Kottiyoor in Kannur district of Kerala, was studying second year M.Com at Pondicherry University. On Sunday, Jisbin and two of his friends had gone to the Thandarayankuppam beach for a bath, where he was caught in strong currents. The Kottakuppam police had launched a search for Jisbin. The body was sent to Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences for post-mortem. The body was then handed over to his family members, who took it to Kottiyoor.
