VAO arrested on graft charge

Sleuths from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Thursday arrested a Village Administrative Officer at Ottimedu near Virudhachalam on graft charges.

According to Vigilance police, R. Senthil, a farmer of Ottimedu, approached the VAO Anandaraj seeking transfer of patta of four acres of land belonging to his father. However, Anandaraj demanded ₹35,000 and subsequently settled down to ₹5,000 for work. Senthil lodged a complaint with the DVAC police who laid a trap and nabbed Anandaraj red handed.
