The police have arrested two youth on the charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl from Tirupur.

The arrested were: Ibrahim (21), a casual worker, and Prabhakaran (27), owner of a lodge at Puducherry.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Disha Mittal said that the arrests were made under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The police said that the girl went missing a few days back.

After tracing the girl, it was learnt that she was sexually assaulted at Puducherry.

The police officials said that the girl reportedly got in touch with Ibrahim through social media.

Ibrahim used the friendship to take away the girl to Puducherry and stayed in the lodge of Prabhakaran where she was sexually assaulted, added the officials.
