Two held for murder in Tirukovilur

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a carpenter at Yendhal near Tirukovilur on Sunday night. The names of the arrested were given as K. Vijayakumar, 27, and Govindasamy of Pagandai. According to the police, P. Saravanan of Porpalampattu and his friend D. Jagan Prabhu were going to Pagandai on a two-wheeler when they were waylaid by the accused who were inebriated.

A scuffle broke out and the accused allegedly stabbed Mr. Saravanan in the abdomen and fled the spot. Passersby rushed Mr. Saravanan to the Government Medical College and Hospital at Mundiyambakkam where he was declared dead on arrival.

The Pagandai police arrested the duo and remanded them to custody.
