Two children drowned when they fell into a water sump near a newly built house at Karasanur near Vanur on Friday.
The victims were identified Harini, 5, and Lakshan, 4, children of Mohandas of Nedunthoti village near Vandavasi in Tiruvannamalai district.
The police said the siblings, who came to their aunt's house at Karasanur, were playing outside the house when they fell into the sump and drowned. The sump had been left open by the construction workers at the site.
The bodies were sent for postmortem to the Tindivanam Government Hospital. A case has been registered.
