Grand Bazaar Police on Sunday arrested two persons from Tiruchi who have been suspected of robbing several persons by adopting an unconventional modus operandi and also recovered jewels and other valuables from them.

Investigation

The Circle inspector Chintha Kothandaram told The Hindu , “The preliminary investigation revealed that they robbed several persons of cash and other valuables by diverting their attention.”

In recent times, police were being flooded with complaints from public on snatching or stealing bags from vehicles such as cars or bikes.

The duo kept watch over the persons who were visiting the banks in Puducherry and other places.

When they came out from the bank with cash or other valuables, the duo allegedly throw a few rupees notes to divert the attention of the victims and later decamped their bags which contain cash or other valuables kept in the box or seat of the vehicles.

Police identified S.Kathiravan(24) and K.Mohan(57) from Ramji Nagar as the accused.
