District Collector L. Subramanian has suspended Kandachipuram tahsildar Srinivasan for resorting to irregularities in the implementation of the free dhoti and sari scheme.

The district administration has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Srinivasan.

According to official sources, a mill in Tirupur had despatched 15,000 saris and dhotis each meant for distribution among beneficiaries under the free dhoti and sari scheme to the Tirukovilur taluk office in 2018.

Mr. Srinivasan, who was the tahsildar in Tirukovilur, had allegedly fudged the number of dhotis and saris in the official register. The irregularities came to light following an inquiry by the Tirukovilur sub-collector T. Charusree.

The district administration has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the tahsildar.
