NLC India (NLCIL) on Monday conducted a camp to check the haemoglobin count in adolescent school girls.
The camp was organised at Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Perperiankuppam by Neyveli Ladies club in coordination with the People Service Group, Neyveli.
Around 300 students studying in classes above Standard X attended the camp.
A special lecture and PowerPoint was presented by Dr. Shanmuga Priya from PIMS, Puducherry, about iron deficiency and its effects on girl children.
The haemoglobin level was checked by PIMS hospital.
The camp was inaugurated by Shanthi Vikkraman, patron of Neyveli Ladies Club. R.Mohan, CGM/CSR, Peter James, GM/CSR, K.Ramesh, DGM/CSR and Senthil Nayaki, Headmistress participated.
The camp was held as part of the Arogya special camps held by the NLCIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility Cell (CSR) for rendering medical services to villagers in and around NLCIL’s project locations.
The total number of Arogya camps proposed to be conducted this year are 12 (10 medical camps and two Obstetrics / Gynecology camps).
Besides, four additional special camps for girl children have been planned, including the one for checking the haemoglobin count in adolescent school and college girl students.
