Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Sunday said the Bharatiya Janata Party should stop using Governors and Lieutenant Governors to disturb democratically elected governments.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the BJP should learn a lesson from the Karnataka fiasco and stop its attempts to disturb democratically elected governments.

The legislators belonging to the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) have thwarted the attempts of the BJP to form a government in Karnataka.

“The BJP is under the impression that it could intervene in the States using Governors and Lt Governors. The party’s game plan has been defeated by the Congress and JD (S) legislators. Now, the BJP should stop interfering in States ruled by the Opposition parties,” he said.

Terming the attempts of the BJP to form a government in Karanataka after it failed to secure a majority in the elections as “undemocratic,” Mr. Narayanasamy said the Congress would emerge much stronger in the coming days.

The Chief Minister said the Union government had responded positively to the territorial administration’s request to expand the port in Puducherry. The Centre had sanctioned ₹85 crore to construct an additional berth under the ‘Sagarmala’ scheme.

Earlier in the day, he flagged off a ‘Rajiv Jyoti Yatra’ at the beach. The yatra, undertaken by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, will reach Sriperumbudur on Monday. The yatra was flagged off by former Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah last month.

Apart from Mr. Narayanasamy, Minister for Public Works A. Namassivayam, Deputy Speaker V.P. Sivakolundhu and Parliamentary Secretary to the Chief Minister K Lakshminarayanan were present.
