SFI demands exemption from NEET

Students from different schools and colleges in Puducherry under the aegis of Students Federation of India (SFI) held a protest march demanding the government to exempt Puducherry from NEET on Friday.

A. Anand, State President, SFI, said that NEET had shattered the dreams of poor rural students in Puducherry to pursue medicine.

“This year, at least nearly 118 seats were lost to the deemed universities. The government should at least ensure that 50% of the seats from the deemed universities are reserved for Puducherry students in the undergraduate medical courses from the next academic year,” he said.

The protest march began from the old bus stand and ended near Raj Nivas. The students submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy.
