Rajiv Jyothi Yatra reaches Puducherry

Senior Congress leaders, including V. Narayanasamy, receive the torch

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy led the Congress in welcoming Rajiv Jyothi Yatra in Puducherry.

The yatra, which started from Bengaluru on May 15, reached here on Sunday night after passing through several districts in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Conducted for the last 28 years by the labour wing of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, the yatra will reach the samadhi of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Sriperumbudur on Tuesday.

TNCC’s plans

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.S. Alagiri will receive the jyothi at Sriperumbudur.

Senior party leaders from across the country are expected to assemble at Sriperumbudur to observe Rajiv Gandhi’s death anniversary.

The leaders belonging to Puducherry Congress Committee, including the Chief Minister, PCC chief A. Namassivayam, former Speaker V. Vaithilingam, ministers and MLAs, will take out a procession from the party office to Rajiv Gandhi statue on Tuesday morning. The party has arranged two buses from here to Sriperumbudur.
