Puducherry officials inspect arrangements at counting centres

Three-tier security to be in place on results day

District Election Officer and Collector T. Arun on Tuesday inspected the two counting centres established in Puducherry — Women’s Polytechnic College and Motilal Nehru Government Polytechnic for counting of votes during the lone Lok Sabha constituency in the Union Territory.

Mr. Arun said a three-tier security arrangement will be put in place for the counting centres.

The counting centre established at Women’s Polytechnic College will cover the constituencies of Manadipet, Thirubhuvanai (Reserved), Oussudu (Reserved), Mangalam, Villianur, Ozhukarai, Lawspet, Kalapet, Uppalam, Orleanpet and Mudaliarpet.

The counting centre established at Motilal Nehru Government Polytechnic will cover the constituencies of Kathirkamam, Indira Nagar, Thattanchavady, Kamaraj Nagar, Muthialpet, Raj Bhavan, Nellithope, Ariyankuppam, Manavely, Embalam (Reserved), Nettapakkam (Reserved) and Bahour.

Mr. Arun accompanied by nodal officers, including Special Superintendent of Police Apoorva Gupta, checked the arrangements at the centres. The officials also took stock of the security arrangements at the counting centres.
