Sanction letters were issued to 1,661 customers for loans totalling ₹63.39 crore during the first phase of the Customer Outreach Initiative conducted by Indian Bank here on October 29 and 30.
The programme was organised as a Government of India initiative to reach out to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), retail and agri customers with various loan offerings.
Eighteen banks participated in the event by setting up stalls, meant to provide one-stop access for the general public to every product being offered by banks functioning in the district. The two-day event was inaugurated by Collector L. Subramanian.
According to a release, banks sanctioned loans totalling ₹63.39 crore to 1,661 customers under various segments.
The loans were sanctioned under MSME and retail (vehicle, housing, education and personal categories). The visitors were briefed about various Union government schemes, including Mudra and Stand up India loans, PMJJBY, PMSBY and APY. R. Rajagopal, deputy zonal manager, handed over sanction letters to the customers. R. Sethuraman, lead district manager, Indian Bank, and officials of the zonal office, were present.
