PTDC has no role in issuing permits: chairman

July 18, 2019 01:09 am | Updated 01:09 am IST - PUDUCHERRY

PTDC chairman M.N.R. Balan on Wednesday said the corporation had no role in giving permits to private players at the Chunnambar boat house.

Mr. Balan told presspersons that the allegation levelled by the Confederation of Puducherry Government Employees Association was baseless. The Tourism Department was responsible for allowing private players at Chunnambar, he said.

Mr. Balan said since he had taken over as PTDC chairman, several steps were taken to increase the revenue for the corporation.

The Congress MLA said a section of employees were annoyed with him because of certain “drastic” measures he had adopted to cleanse the functioning of the PTDC. The frequent strikes by the employees had led to huge a revenue loss for the boat house, he added.
