The Elections Department on Monday conducted a workshop to demonstrate the working of electronic voting machines and the voter verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) machine for officials of the Law department at the Common Facilities Block in the integrated court complex here.
The working of EVMs and VVPATs was demonstrated by Chief Electoral Officer V. Candavelou and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer B. Thillaivel to judges and officials of the Law department.
After casting the vote on the electronic voting machine, a voter has to look at the VVPAT displaying the printout containing the serial number, party symbol and the photo of the candidate who got the vote.
This printout is displayed in the VVPAT for seven seconds before it gets into the connected box.
Earlier, Additional District Judge Suba Anbumani flagged off a mobile awareness vehicle.
