Police patrol team nabs three robbers

A police team patrolling the East Coast Road caught three robbers when they were trying to flee after robbing a group of youth on Sunday night.

The accused, identified as Gowtham, 24, Jayaprakash, 24, and Prakash, 25, of Kalapet, were arrested.

The police said the victim, Siva of Vepery in Chennai, along with his friends, was on a motorcycle trip from Chennai to Puducherry. The group stopped near Anichakuppam bus stop for tea, when three persons, who were riding triples on a motorcycle, intercepted them.

One of the accused pulled out an air gun and robbed the group of ₹750 and snatched the mobile phone of Mr. Siva.

When Mr. Siva and his friends shouted for help, a police patrol team that was passingby nabbed the trio.
