Police nab vehicle lifter

The police on Thursday arrested a bike lifter and recovered three motorcycles worth ₹2.50 lakh from him. According to the police, a team was conducting vehicle checks on the East Coast Road when they intercepted Anand, 28, of Vandipalayam in Cuddalore district who was riding a motorcycle. Asked for the Registration Certificate of the vehicle he was riding, he gave several excuses.

The police said Anand’s friend Ilayaraja from Cuddalore had lifted motorcycles from Thilaspet and handed it over to Anand. The accused had stolen two other motorcycles in Madurai and handed them to Anand.

The police recovered three stolen motorcycles from Anand. He was produced before a local court and remanded in custody in the Kalapet Central Prison.
