The State Planning Board will meet on July 6 to finalise the draft of the annual plan for 2019-20, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy said on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters in the Assembly, he said the draft of the annual plan, to be sent to the Union finance and home ministries for vetting, would be discussed.

He said the government would strongly oppose the move by the Ministry of Environment and Forest to have offshore and onshore oil and gas exploration wells in Karaikal and Puducherry.

Reacting to comments made by the Lt. Governor pertaining to the water crisis in Chennai, he said she should know her administrative jurisdiction. She had no business to comment on matters coming under the purview of the Tamil Nadu government, he said. It was “unbecoming” of a person holding such a constitutional position to make objectionable comments on politicians, officials and others, he said. “Ms. Bedi is probably not aware of the heroism and valour of the people of Tamil Nadu,” he added.
