The Tamil Nadu Post-Graduate Teachers’ Association has urged the State government to enforce uniform rules in terms of appointment of headmasters to aided as well as government-run schools.
As of now the aided schools are adopting arbitrary practice of appointing headmasters on the basis of so-called “merit and ability” factor. Such recruitment process has robbed the chances of many eligible candidates to become headmasters in those schools.
The Association at its State general body meeting held here recently passed a resolution in this regard.
It stated that invariably the aided school managements exploit the “merit and ability” formula by appointing pliable candidates to headmaster posts.
The Association also called for scrapping the 5:2 ratio being adopted, in terms of promotion in higher secondary schools, as stipulated in government order number 720.
Those who participated on the occasion included State general secretary R. Vijayakumar, Cuddalore district president C. Ramachandran, organising secretary T. Mathiyalagan and secretary R.V. Shanmugham.
