Irregularities alleged in admissions

The Puducherry UT All CENTAC Students Parents Association (PCESPA) has urged the government to cancel the MBBS counselling and conduct fresh counselling in the offline mode because of alleged irregularities in the admission process.

M. Narayanasamy, association president, said that while the Centac authorities had made efforts to conduct counselling for MBBS seats through online mode, a few students adopted fraudulent means to get admission.

Mr. Narayanasamy said that a few students had applied fraudulently for seats under the Special Regional Allocation quota. According to clause 1.9.2 of Centac booklet, a student should have lived in the region and should have studied in a recognised school in the region in the last three years.

“We have serious doubts in the case of students appearing in the Yanam regional list since they have not fulfilled the necessary conditions to apply under the regional quota.

“The government should immediately cancel the counselling and conduct counselling afresh in the offline mode so that certificate verification could be done thoroughly. This will ensure that only meritorious students with proper credentials are allotted the seats,” Mr. Narayanasamy added.
