The Swachh Bharat Mission is seeing quite a few clean-up operations across the country and Puducherry is no exception. A private radio station selected a wall of Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Postgraduate Institute and D. Simon Cardinal Lourdusamy Government Girls High School on Mission Street for their clean-up programme. The Big FM radio station got 15 government schoolchildren to help them. They cleaned the walls and gave it a fresh look with paintings on cleanliness and environment and quotations by Mahatma Gandhi. From being overrun with posters and dirt stains, the walls are now a refreshing sight.
“The AIADMK will always call a spade a spade and never stop from exposing deficiencies in the ruling AINRC government although the AINRC supported its candidate to emerge victorious in the recent Rajya Sabha polls,” said A. Anbalagan, deputy legislature party leader, at a press conference held recently.
Mr. Anbalagan said that merely because there was an alliance between the AIADMK and the AINRC, one should not get the impression that the AIADMK would remain quiet in discharging its democratic duties. The AIADMK would always call a spade a spade, he said after criticising the government “for adopting a chaotic approach over procurement of MBBS seats” from a private medical college in the city.
