Around 85,155 candidates in centres all over the country on Sunday appeared for the online entrance test conducted by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER).
The tests were held for admission to its MBBS course starting in the academic year 2015-2016.
Although the first M.B.B.S class has a total of 145 seats the entrance test is confined to fill 127 seats only since the Government of India will nominate 18 candidates for the remaining seats, a spokesperson of JIPMER said.
Around 85,155 candidates appeared for the entrance test in 581 centres in 75 cities across India.
Results
The results would be released in the next five to six days after evaluation of answer sheets.
Besides Puducherry, other centres the examination took place include New Delhi, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata and Vijayawada.
After JIPMER was elevated as an institute of national importance in 2008 the intake of MBBS seats had been increased from 75 to 150 seats.
Out of the total seats 40 had been reserved for Puducherry residents.
