Over 3,000 to write UPSC prelims in Puducherry

Government has made elaborate arrangements for smooth and error-free conduct of the examination

As many as 3,522 candidates will appear for the All India Civil Services (Preliminary) examination here on Sunday. The UPSC has selected Puducherry as one of the centres for the examination.

The examination will be held during the forenoon and afternoon sessions at nine sub-centres. Three of them are at the Vivekananda Higher Secondary School, Sellaperumalpet, Lawspet Main Road, Puducherry. Other six centres are the Women’s Polytechnic College, Airport Road, Lawspet, and the Vallalar Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Lawspet, Idhaya College of Arts and Science for Women, Pakkamudayanpet, Immaculate Heart of Mary’s Girls Higher Secondary School and Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School.

Special bus services

The government has made elaborate arrangements for smooth and error-free conduct of the examination. The government has also made arrangements for operating special buses from 7 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. from the new bus stand for the benefit of candidates coming to Puducherry to the various centres.The services would be operated near the police outpost at the bus stand. Facilities would be provided to candidates from the centres to the bus stand after the examination is over at 4.30 p.m.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made and only bonafide candidates would be allowed to enter the centres. Mobile phones are strictly prohibited at the centres.

Arrangements for providing uninterrupted power supply and clean drinking water to the centres have been made.

A control room would function at the Office of the Joint Director of School Education, Second Floor, Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Educational complex from Saturday Friday to Sunday with the following telephone numbers and fax number – telephone: 0413-2207203/2207258.
