'The BJP- led National Democratic Government at the Centre has been ignoring the Union Territory'.

October 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:00 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

Addressing media here, Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLA A. Namassivayam flayed the ruling All India NR Congress government had been mobilising funds through the open market borrowing for the third time in a short span of time.

Pointing out that during the last parliamentary polls, the AINRC in alliance with the BJP had promised a turnaround of financial situation in the Union Territory if Modi came to power at Centre, Mr. Namassivayam wanted to know the fate of promises such as waiver of loans, more funds and Statehood to the Union Territory. He charged that Chief Minister N.Rangasamy has thrown the promises into the wind and failed to get sufficient funds from the Centre.

Alleging that the BJP- led National Democratic Government at the Centre has been ignoring the Union Territory, Mr. Namassivayam said that the revenue position of government is not good and the ruling party has been attempting to make residents as debtors by resorting to frequent market borrowing.
