Leader of the AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) faction leader Om Sakthi Sekar demanded the disqualification of eight legislators who are holding office of profit in contravention of the Puducherry Members of the Legislative Assembly (Prevention of Disqualification) Act, 1994 and its subsequent amendments enacted in terms of section 14 of the Government of Union Territories Act, 1963.

Mr. Sekar called on Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday seeking her intervention on the issue. In his memorandum to Lt Governor, Mr. Sekar said the government had made eight legislators as chairmen of various public sector undertakings in contravention of the rules.
