The 22nd Neyveli Book Fair, an annual event, will bring together over 150 publishers and over 10,000 titles spread over 10 days this year.

Organised by NLC India Ltd (NLCIL), the fair will commence at the Book Fair Grounds in Neyveli on July 5.

Special invitee to the inaugural event, Justice R. Subramanian, Judge, High Court of Madras, will inaugurate the book fair in the presence of Rakesh Kumar, CMD of NLCIL.

In view of the ever-growing number of visitors from the surrounding districts, it is proposed to keep open the book stalls from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

During the days of book fair, one eminent writer, one publisher will be honoured and a new book will be released. Season tickets would be issued for the schoolchildren at a concession.

Free passes

Since its inception in 1998, the annual book fair has evolved into a flagship event for NLCIL.

As a CSR initiative, NLCIL has made special arrangements for schools, especially government schools and under privileged children to visit the fair by issuing free entry passes to 15,000 schoolchildren.

About 150 stalls containing books of around reputed publishers and booksellers of South India are at the fair.

A special pavilion marking the 150th birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi will be on display at the fair.
