Chief Minister-designate and senior Congress leader V.Narayanasamy on Monday met Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi and formally staked claim to form the government in the Union Territory.
After the Congress-DMK alliance together won in 17 of 30 seats in the Union Territory, Congress MLAs last Saturday elected All India Congress Committe e(AICC) general secretary V. Narayanasamy as the Congress Legislature Party leader.
Mr. Narayanasamy, accompanied by Pradesh Congress Committee president A.Namassivayam and DMK MLA R.Siva met Ms.Bedi at Raj Nivas. Mr. Narayanasamy handed over a letter which declared that he was elected as CLP leader and an authorisation letter from Congress besides a letter of support from the DMK.
After formal approval from Union Government, the Congress Government under Mr. Narayanasamy will be sworn in.
Addressing reporters here, Mr. Narayanasamy said he and Mr. Namassivayam would go to New Delhi to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi. After consultations with them, the formation of ministry will be decided, he said.
