Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLA A.Namassivayam on Friday charged Chief Minister and AINRC president N.Rangasamy with attempting to create confusion in the Congress party. He added that Mr. Rangasamy’s hidden agenda would not materialise as strong leaders and cadres stand behind the party.

Talking to The Hindu , Mr.Namassivayam said, “Unable to stomach the growth of Congress party in Union Territory, Chief Minister Rangasamy has been aiming to create confusion, but none will be able to achieve the purpose as leaders and cadres of Congress party strongly stand behind the party and people support us.”

Severely criticising Mr. RangasamyMr. Namassivayam said he had to face a sorry plight of handing over the sole Rajya Sabha seat to AIADMK which has been hitherto considered as a rival only because he failed to keep his flock of MLAs together with him. Rather than keeping his MLAs with him, Chief Minister attempted to encourage defection in other political parties, alleged Mr. Namassivayam.

Downplaying the recent overtures of some MLAs of his party towards the ruling party, Mr.Namassivayam said, “They have been meeting Chief Minister for the redressal of public grievances in their constituencies. Hitherto they have not issued any open statement stating that they are joining AINRC. Let us see if they come out with any open statement.”

Stating that the ruling AINRC miserably failed in all fields, the Congress leader said, “The Chief Minister has been planning to divert the attention of people from the real issues by giving freebies to them. All his activities are focussed on forth coming elections rather than fulfilling the real basic needs of people.”

He also alleged that the ruling government failed to disburse the salaries to government employees and revive textile mills which were closed. He added that the government had not allocated the MLA development funds duly and failed to fulfil the basic needs such as developing roads, creating drinking water facilities.

Flaying the ruling AINRC for having conducted a shortest session of Assembly, Mr. Namassivayam said, “It is anti-democratic to hold the session in such manner. Several issues are required to be discussed by MLAs. Even the ruling party MLAs criticised it.”
