Chief Minister N.Rangasamy on Monday said corporate companies in the Union Territory should come forward to implement schemes under Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme.
Congress MLAs including Malladi Krishna Rao, C. Djeacoumar and K.Lakshiminarayanan raised the issue in the Assembly.
Replying to their queries, Mr.Rangasamy said Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) agreed to give Rs.35 crore under Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme for the construction of medical college and hospital at Karaikal. So far it did not release the amount to the government .
Multi-storeyed construction
N.Rangasamy on Monday assured the Members of Legislative Assembly of stringent action against multi-storeyed constructions built without necessary approval.
Mr.Rangasamy made this assurance following a question from AIADMK MLA Omsakthi Sekar.
In a written reply, he said during 2014-15, Puducherry Planning Authority(PPA) received 2,568 applications for approval of building plans. Of this, 2,332 were for ordinary construction while 236 for multi-storeyed buildings. The PPA gave its approval for 1,298 ordinary constructions and 187 multi-storeyed structures. As many as 548 applications are under consideration while 535 were rejected.
Filling vacant posts
in Karaikal
Ruling AINRC MLA P.R. Siva on Monday expressed concern over delay in filling up vacant posts in key departments in Karaikal and officials deputed from Puducherry were reluctant to work in Karaikal.
Participating in the general discussion on the budget, Mr. Siva said that the Karaikal Government General Hospital had been bogged down by lack of specialists. Specialists deputed from Puducherry are not willing to work in Karaikal. The lone GH and a private medical college and hospital are not equipped to handle emergencies.
The government should also expedite the proposed medical college and hospital project announced in the budget in collaboration with Jipmer.
Mr. Siva also wanted the Puducherry Government to set up a Police outpost at Thirunallar.
Deep-sea fishing
AIADMK MLAs on Monday sought the government to pass a resolution opposing the decision of Union Government on deep sea fishing.
AIADMK Legislature Party Deputy Leader A.Anbalagan said that the Chief Minister N.Rangasamy should write a letter to the Centre as the proposed move would deprive rights of fishermen.
