To unseat the ruling All India NR Congress from the seat of power and to prevent Congress from coming to power, the Left Parties on Tuesday said they were chalking out a strategy to project the Left as an ‘alternative’ political choice in the Union Territory.
The Puducherry unit leaders of Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), CPI(ML), Revolutionary Socialist Party and All India Forward Bloc deliberated on the current political situation and devised strategies to propagate their policies to the public.
Later briefing presspersons on Tuesday, CPI unit secretary R.Viswanathan said the people have been frustrated by the functioning of All India NR Congress Government.
There have been flip-flops by the Government in implementation of its programmes.
Industries have been closing down their units as atmosphere was not conducive for them any longer in the Union Territory.
Mr. Viswanathan said even as the Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has been demanding Statehood and more financial autonomy for the Union Territory, he had failed to utilise the powers already vested with him. Though six ministers could be accommodated in UT Cabinet, only five ministers were present. The ruling government has not conducted elections to local bodies so far.
Mr. Viswanathan said, “We are going to declare alternative policies on July 18 at a public event. We will announce a series of agitations against the ruling government.”
The left leaders will widely campaign against the anti-people policies of the ruling government.
CPI(M) State committee member V.Perumal said, “The erstwhile Congress regime was unseated as it was anti-people and the AINRC came to power. But the AINRC also has been following policies which are against the welfare of public and working class”.
Secretary of CPI (ML)S. Balasubramanian, said the ruling party is autocratic and should be ousted from the power.
The Left leaders also slammed the officials for being too lethargic and not meeting public on a periodic basis to redress their grievances.
We are going to declare alternative policies on July 18, says Viswanathan
