Jipmer to conduct cancer screening camp

The Department of Radiation Oncology, Regional Cancer Centre, Jipmer, is organising a cancer awareness and screening camp on Sunday to mark the National Cancer Awareness Day.

The venue is the Government Boys Middle School, Villianur, Puducherry.

According to a press note, the camp will focus on creating awareness on lifestyle factors linked to cancer such as tobacco, smoking and alcohol.

Specific focus will also be on sensitising and screening for oral, breast and cervical cancer to promote women’s wellness.

At the camp, experts from Jipmer, R. Chandramouli, senior Resident, Department of Radiation Oncology, will speak on cancer and lifestyle risk factors and K. Gunaseelan, Head of the Department, Department of Radiation Oncology, will deliver a special address on importance of screening, early detection and timely treatment.

Group and individual counselling sessions will be held for clarifying doubts and educating individuals.
