Jipmer has launched an exclusive ward for stroke patients.

Opening the post-stroke recovery and rehabilitation facility in the Department of Neurology, Jipmer Director Dr. S. C. Parija, emphasised the need for unique multidisciplinary services that stroke patients require.

He pointed out that Jipmer already had an active emergency care facility, acute stroke therapy and a stroke follow up clinic (functioning on Thursday).

The stroke rehabilitation facility is complementary to the existing facility.

On these lines, an epilepsy monitoring unit is also being opened to complement the services at the epilepsy clinic (functioning on Monday) and the acute epilepsy care facilities at Jipmer.

Dr.Parija, added that Jipmer proposed to extend its super specialty services to the remote villages shortly by adopting villages.

Dr. Sunil K Narayan, Professor and Head, Department Neurology & Stroke Programme coordinator, Jipmer, led a special session on acute stroke thrombolysis and stroke care protocols for the post graduate students.
