JIPMER has introduced an online storage and retrieval system for diagnostic reports that will save time for doctors and hassled of going to the laboratory for patients.
Initiated by the Hospital Information System Unit (HISU) of JIPMER, the system software automatically despatches a diagnostic report that is generated by an equipment for authorisation by the consultant concerned. Once the authorisation has been made, the lab report will be published in JIPMER's website. These reports can be accessed by the clinician at any time using their secured credentials. The advantage of the system is that the patient’s or the clinicians need not go in person to the laboratory to collect the report.
JIPMER Director S. C. Parija launched the system in presence of Dr. J. Balachander, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Anita Rustagi, Additional Medical Superintendent and Head of HISU and chiefs of various other departments.
Dr. Parija said the vision of JIPMER is to make JIPMER globally recognised in terms of better patient care as well as technology. Very soon JIPMER will have the ORS (Online Patient registration) with SMS integration so that the patients can know the status and they can take printout or the download the Lab reports from home or CSC(Common Service Centres) itself, he said.
JIPMER, recognised as “An Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare” has established the facility as another step in the in advancement of Information Technology for better patient care.
