JD(U) seeks prohibition

The Puducherry unit of the Janata Dal (U) has demanded the government to implement prohibition in the Union Territory. A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting of the party here on Thursday.

Party general secretary G.M. Kandhavel demanded a White Paper on the list of names of defaulters and lessees of arrack and liquor shops in the Union Territory. The party demanded that the government hold elections to local bodies and press for the Cauvery Management Board.
