Jazz concert to light up Bastille Day

Hits like La Vie en Rose and La Javaisdaise lined up for special performance

This year, the “Live Music - SecSatPondy” is coming to fill the French Bastille Day with cool jazz music in Puducherry.

Taking a break from the usual rock music, the “Live Music - SecSatPondy” will host a concert by Four Plus Jazz from Bengaluru on Saturday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at PTDC Seagulls Restaurant on Rue Dumas, opposite Old Port.

Drummer Victor Francis, keyboardist Iggy Daniel, guitarist Christy George and bassist Eric Gerald are all virtuoso instrumentalists with a genuine feel for the traditions and nuances of jazz music. Their interpretations of golden standards like Take 5 , Spain,Caravan , Monin,Cantaloupe Island , Blue Rondo , and Watermelon Man , etc are a connoisseur's delight.

Crooner Shanks 'Elvis' Abraham brings in the Plus element to the ensemble with immaculate renditions of not only King Elvis but also Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Roy Orbison, Sinatra as well as a few recent chart toppers. Fans can expect screamers like Great Balls of Fire , Jailhouse Rock , Johnny Be Good , and Pretty Woman to more romantic ballads like Are You Lonesome Tonight? , Girl from Ipanema , and It's Now Or Never.

To celebrate the French Bastille Day, there will be a special guest performance of chansons francaises by Miriam Divin. She comes from an illustrious musical background as her father keyboard wizard Dondieu Divin is one of the most sought after session musicians backing the biggest stars in France. Miriam, an excellent keyboardist herself will play and sing evergreen hits like La Vie en Rose and La Javaisdaise.
