Puducherry Lieutenant Governor orders strict compliance.

Government officials have been directed to undertake visits to outlying regions once a month and submit a report to the secretary concerned.

The government order issued in this regard also instructed secretaries to visit outlying regions once in three months to inspect ongoing development work and review progress of schemes relating to their departments.

They will submit a report to the Chief Secretary within a week of undertaking the visit. The order comes immediately after a two-day visit to Yanam by Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi.

Ms. Bedi, who returned from Yanam on Wednesday, has sought strict compliance with the order from secretaries and heads of departments and has scheduled her next visit to Yanam after three months.

According to a press statement from Raj Nivas, an open house in Yanam was attended by over 120 petitioners. Flood control measures, solid waste management, complaints of biomedical waste disposal and violation of environmental norms were examined and resolved.

The Regional Administrator was asked to conduct an open house daily at 5 p.m. on all working days. This is in addition to the ongoing weekly video conference with the Lt. Governor office on Fridays.
