As many as 70 vintage and classic cars were lined up on the Beach Road on Saturday evening for the 10th edition of the Chennai-Puducherry heritage car drive organised by the Madras Motoring Club in association with the Tourism Department of Puducherry.
Coinciding with the Pondicherry Heritage Festival, the display of cars and bikes at the event turned out to be a major crowd-puller, with hundreds of residents and tourists going shutter happy.
More than 70 cars, including Austin (1927 model), Morris (1935), Citroen (1946), Dodge (1933), Singer (1947) and classic cars such as Volkswagen Beetle (1966), Ford Mustang (1967), Morris Minor, Jaguar (1936) and 30 motorcycles from Chennai and Puducherry participated in the rally.
S. Senthil Kumar, executive director, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., and V.N.Devadoss, chairman, VGN Developers Pvt. Ltd., flagged off the rally in Chennai.
Tourism Minister Malladi Krishna Rao will be flagging off their return journey from Puducherry to Chennai on Sunday.
