Two coaches of a goods train detached from the 24-coach train at the Sultanpet yard in Nellikuppam near here on Monday. The incident occurred at around 3.50 p.m. when the goods train loaded with processed sugarcane reached the Sultanpet yard for offloading the cargo meant for a private sugar mill in Nellikuppam.

The engine of the goods train was detached to be attached at the other end when two coaches of the train detached. The two coaches damaged the crash barrier and skid brakes before slowing down after reaching the road. However, there was no disruption in train services due to the incident.
