The Oulgaret Municipality organised a hand washing event in the morning. A temporary hand wash with more than 10 taps was set up near the Rajiv Gandhi signal. Oulgaret Municipality Commissioner M.S. Ramesh led the initiative and encouraged passers-by to wash their hands by showing them the right way to do it.

The Global Handwashing Day founded by the Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing is an annual event aimed at understanding the importance of washing hands with soap to prevent diseases, according to the Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing website.
