Gang murders man in Mudaliarpet

Old enmity suspected to be the reason

A 34-year-old man was murdered by a five-member gang at Udayarthoppu in Mudaliarpet here on Monday. The name of the victim was given as Selvam.

According to police, Selvam was standing in front of his house when a gang attacked him with sharp weapons and fled the scene. A profusely bleeding Selvam died in Puducherry Government General Hospital.

Police are on the lookout for the assailants, they said and added that previous enmity was suspected to be the motive behind the murder.

Selvam is said to be the main accused in the murder of a PMK functionary in Sirkazhi in Nagapattinam district a few years ago. A case has been registered and enquiries are on.
