The Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam, a government-run institution of fine arts, has initiated the process of appointing a principal, in line with a directive from the Madras High Court.
The High Court, while expressing concern over teaching standards at the Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam, had directed that the vacant post of principal be filled before December 6.
On Thursday, the Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam, the only fine arts college in Puducherry offering undergraduate courses in music, dance and visual arts, called for applications from eligible candidates to the post of principal. Application forms are available for download on government website https://art.py.gov.in and https://bpk.py.gov.in, till November 20.
For about a year, the college was being managed by an administrator posted by the government.
The Madras High Court directive was based on a petition filed by a lecturer of the college.
